Slushy Time!

Good Monday Evening!
I don't usually get to post on Monday so I am excited to have the time this evening!  I want to share with you our activity from School Family Time today. For those that are unfamiliar with School Family it is a time where our school is divided up into small groups of about ten students of Kindergarten to 4th graders.  We meet one time a week for thirty minutes and work on character lessons and any cool activity we would like to do with the students.  It is a chance to bond with students that are not in your class and develop relationships beyond your grade level. The students have developed relationships with other students they normally would not have the chance to connect with.

So, this last week I was pondered and pondered what we could do with this week's School Family time.  After searching Pinterest I found a real fun science experiment that the students just loved!

First of all you need to do some prep work.  Using a quart size Ziploc bag you will fill it half full with water, then put in 2 tablespoons of salt.  Seal it up and then mix it around in the bag until it dissolves.  After this, you will put it in the freezer overnight.  It will not freeze completely, this is part of the magic.

After the bag freezes overnight you take it and put it in a gallon Ziploc bag, still sealed. Next, you put in 1-2 cups of Kool-Aid mix and seal the bag.  Shake and shake...

After a little shaking and mixing you get the final product of a SLUSHY!  YUMMO!  The students had so much fun with this AND so did I!

Hope you have a fantastic week!
