SPIDERS!!!

During the month of October our class worked through a STEM unit learning about spiders!  I found the basis for this activity in this book:

The students had 3 tasks to complete:

We used our Ipads, computers and books to do research for Task 1:

On day 3 of our spider study the most amazing thing happened!  Not really... I am not a fan of spiders, but guess what showed up in our room?!  Of course, after all this study of spiders the students were absolutely against smashing the spider so we scooped it up in a jar and it became our class pet for the day.  It was a great learning opportunity.  We were able to identify the spider and make discoveries about this type of spider.  After some time, we let him go back to the wild. THANKFULLY!

Task 2 and 3:

After completion, we spent a day presenting on our spider, interesting facts we learned, our spider model and the web our spider spins.  We had a lot of fun learning about spiders!
